Darren Bader's
The Vagrant
Suite Sixteen studio invited me to produce several illustrations for a video called “The Vagrant”, by New York artist Darren Bader.
The cartoon-style animated short, approximately 13 minutes long, tells a story set far in the future of humankind, after the dissolution of the UN, in which 11 sculptures are launched into an outer space journey.
The piece was shown in several art galleries such as Andrew Kreps Gallery (New York), Sadie Coles HQ (London), Galleria Franco Noero (Turin); Blum & Poe (Los Angeles / New York / Tokyo).
Bader’s works fall into a number of broad groupings, including word works, pairings, “impossible” sculpture, trash sculpture, and collaborative installation, often exploring the interconnectedness of seemingly disparate objects through complex (re-)arrangements, surprise juxtapositions, and absurd associations.
